The School of Public Health and Health Services offers a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Exercise Science. Students may choose a concentration in one of the following areas of study within the major:
Undergraduate application should be made early in the student's senior year of high school to the Admissions Office. Preference for fall admittance will be given to students who submit applications and required credentials prior to February 1. Students who graduate mid-year and wish to begin in the spring semester should apply no later than November 1. Transfer students should submit an application and all required credentials prior to June 1 for the fall and November 1 for the spring semesters.
The 36-hour program leads to a Master of Science Degree with a Major in Exercise Science. Advanced standing may be granted for relevant courses taken at other accredited institutions, but a minimum of 24 credit hours must be completed in residence as a degree candidate in Health Sciences at The George Washington University Medical Center. Introductory courses in anatomy, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, and statistics are pre-requisite to required courses in the program. The pre-requisite courses are part of the undergraduate Exercise and Sport Science program offered.

Laboratory Equipment and Facilities
The Exercise Science Programs Facility has two laboratories: one testing lab equipment for complete clinical and fitness exercise stress testing, including oxygen uptake, body composition, and blood analysis; one fitness/class laboratory with various fitness apparatus for testing and exercise, with ECG, telemetry ECG, and heart rate monitors.
Practical and Clinical Opportunities (are available in the following programs):
On-Campus: Adult Fitness, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Women's Exercise Research Center, Runner's Clinic, and Lifestyle Intervention Program.
Off-Campus: AAHPERD, Corporate and industrial fitness centers, government fitness centers such as at the Pentagon, the White House, and congressional programs.
Admission Requirements
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and an acceptable undergraduate academic record are required, along with acceptable scores on the Graduate Record Examination or the Miller Analogies Test.
