ETL Program - Tech Tip #5

Obtaining Free RealMedia Software

Several of the ETL Program courses offer streaming video clips that are in RealMedia format. In order to view them, you will need media viewing software that recognizes that format. A free player can be downloaded from Real Networks ... but they really try to push the one that you have to buy as hard as they can. Their Website changes often, so the following specific directions may not apply, but there should be an eventual link to the free version on the RealOne Player. The free version works fine, for our purposes. Here's how to get it:

Go to www.real.com/

Look for the free download button -- not a "Trial Download" button or some other paid upgrade (unless that's what you want to do).

Search on the next page for the inconspicuous "Download the Free RealOne Player" notation that's somewhere within the advertising.

Download and install the software.

There are other media players that now recognize RealMedia clips, so you may want to test what you have before downloading this.
