ETL Program - Tech Tip #2

Obtaining GW Web Space

Signing Up for GW Web Space -- If you are a currently-registered student and have already obtained a GW e-mail address (the address must have been active for at least 24 hours), you may set up a Web account on GW's ACAD server. This will allow you to create a website -- required in some ETL courses. The university provides online help for doing this. The process can be a bit complicated, but the following tips should help you through it. Please read carefully.

First, keep in mind that you will do a one-time setup and configuration of the account through acad.gwu.edu -- once it has been created, you will thereafter access this account through home.gwu.edu -- note the difference, as this has caused some people a good bit of confusion

To create the account, fill in the following online form. Remember -- you are signing up for an ACAD (UNIX) account ... only! Please do not try to sign up for any other type of account.

Once you have submitted the signup form, wait about an hour before going to the next step (you should get an e-mailed confirmation that the account was created).
