Program Overview

Integrates diverse expertise and current research related to the focus areas of crisis, emergency, risk and security management for professionals currently engaged in or seeking careers in these focus areas across the public, private, and not for profit sectors. Develops and applies interdisciplinary research, training, and education that enhance crisis and emergency management, risk management, contingency planning, emergency response and recovery, system safety and security, business continuity, applications of information technology, and organizational learning.

Doctor of Science

The program of study is individually tailored for each student and designed to provide the student with the capability to perform substantive research.

 
     
 

Masters of Science

The program of study consists of 12 graduate level courses totaling 36 credit hours. Three types of course requirements are included in the curriculum -- common course requirements, focus course requirements, and approved electives. Common course requirements are taken by all students in the EMSE Master's program. Focus course requirements are taken by all students within the area of focus. Approved elective requirements are courses that require the approval of the student's individual academic advisor. These courses are detailed below.
