Financial Times Ranks GW’s
International Business Program Fifth Worldwide

In its 2008 ranking of Global M.B.A. programs, the Financial Times rated The George Washington University fifth in the world for its international business program. In its recognition of GW’s international business program, the ranking also acknowledges the excellence of a core part of the curriculum at the Elliott School of International Affairs. Ten of the 12 professors who teach in the School of Business’ Department of International Business hold joint appointments at the Elliott School. The Elliott School and the School of Business share courses, particularly in the Elliott School’s International Trade and Investment Policy M.A. program, and the two schools have a Joint International M.B.A-M.A. Program.

“Our number five ranking for ‘best in International Business’ is exciting, because it is based on alumni recommendations,” said Reid Click, associate professor of international business and international affairs and chair of the International Business Program. “It is a sign that students recognize the strengths of the curriculum in International Business, even several years after they have completed the program.”

Click added that several factors account for the strength of GW’s International Business curriculum, including the university’s location in Washington DC, in close proximity to multilateral financial institutions, U.S. foreign policy agencies, and the diplomatic community. “We are also fortunate to have strong ties with the Elliott School of International Affairs,” he said, “which allow faculty and students alike to pursue interdisciplinary interests in international business, international trade and investment, international political economy, and international development.”
