What you can do for GSCD, Students, and fellow Graduate Alumni

Speak on Career Panels
GSCD sponsors at least one career panel per month. By participating in these panels, you can introduce graduate students to careers related to the Elliott School degree.

Make your information viewable in the Alumni Career Network
This is our online directory of Elliott School graduate alumni who have volunteered to serve as career mentors to Elliott School graduate students and graduate alumni. This directory is an excellent resource of contacts for networking and informational interviews. This resource is incorporated into ESCC. To access and search alumni, log into Elliott School Career Connection and click on My Network. To make your information viewable to other students and alumni, please indicate the number of times you are willing to be contacted per month. If you say zero, then no one can view your information.

Internship and Job Postings
If you have an opportunity you would like to advertise to students, you can send the position posting to GSCD at escareer@gwu.edu. We will quickly post the announcement in our password protected Elliott School Career Connection, and it will be automatically emailed to students and alumni who have indicted interest in your employer or field.

Employer Presentations
Come to the Elliott School to tell students about where you work, the skills needed to succeed in your field or organization, available jobs and internships, and the application process. This is particularly helpful if you can have a member of your organization's human resources department join you for the presentation.

Opportunity Knocks Career and Information Fair
Participate in our spring career fair to meet students and alumni and talk about your employer and the hiring process.

Site Visits
Host a group of students at your employer. Help arrange for them to speak with several alumni and human resources staff.

Mock Interviews
Participate in mock interview day and help students practice specific interview skills.

Gowns For Grants
GSCD is asking all alumni to donate their M.A. gowns and hoods in order to help raise funds for international internship grants. Your donation will be tax-deductible, and GSCD will then sell your regalia to a graduating M.A. student for a discounted price. That money will be used to help future graduate students participate in internships abroad. For more information, please email GSCD at escareer@gwu.edu or call us at (202) 994-3788.
