German history, imperialism and colonialism, historiography and critical theory

Background:

Andrew Zimmerman received a Ph.D. in history from the University of California, San Diego in 1998. He is the author of Anthropology and Antihumanism in Imperial Germany (University of Chicago Press, 2001). He is currently finishing a book manuscript about the influence of Booker T. Washington and the New South on German Imperialism in Africa.
