Background:

Paul D. Williams is Associate Professor of International Affairs and Associate Director of the Security Policy Studies Program. He also serves as Faculty Adviser for students with concentrations in Conflict & Conflict Resolution. He specializes in issues of conflict resolution, international peacekeeping and Africa's international relations. He is the author of British Foreign Policy under New Labour, 1997-2005 (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2005), coauthor of Understanding Peacekeeping (Polity, 2004), editor of Security Studies: An Introduction (Routledge, 2008), and co-editor of Africa in International Politics (Routledge, 2004) and Peace Operations and Global Order (Routledge, 2005). His articles have been published in such journals as International Security, International Affairs, Security Studies, Journal of Peace Research, Security Dialogue, International Peacekeeping, Contemporary Security Policy, African Affairs and Political Studies. His research has been funded by the UK's Economic and Social Research Council, the British Academy, and the Australian Research Council.

Professor Williams currently serves on the editorial boards of two journals, African Affairs and Global Responsibility to Protect<
