Special Honors

Elliott School seniors (90+ earned credit hours) with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher are eligible to apply to graduate with special honors.

You must complete one of the course options listed below in your final year of study, as well as meet the criteria for awarding special honors, to receive this distinction upon graduation from the Elliott School.

Course Options
IAFF 191: Elliott School Senior Seminar
IAFF 199: Elliott School Senior Thesis
HONR 196: University Honors Program Senior Seminar
HONR 198: University Honors Program Senior Thesis
Criteria for Awarding Special Honors
Earn a grade of "B" or higher in one of the course options listed above
Graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
Graduate with at least 60 credit hours in residence

To apply, complete the online application form before the start of the fall semester. Students completing a thesis must also submit a Thesis Approval Form P D F icon before the end of the second week of the semester in which they will complete the thesis.

Deadlines
Applications must be submitted online no later than August 31, 2009.
Senior Thesis Approval Forms must be received no later than the end of the second week of the semester:

Fall: September 11, 2009
Spring: January 22, 2010

Info sessions for students completing a thesis will be offered in the Academic Advising conference room, 1957 E Street, Suite 302, on the following dates:

Spring semester thesis info sessions
Tuesday, December 8, 12 noon
Wednesday, December 9, 4:00 p.m.
Friday, December 11, 11 a.m.
