Appointments
Appointments are scheduled through the receptionist by calling (202) 994-3002
We cannot accomodate same-day appointments or appointment requests made by e-mail.
Walk-in Advising
Walk-in advising is available Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Additional walk-in hours are offered at the beginning of the semester and during registration periods.)
Walk-ins are reserved for "quick questions," clarification on forms, and quick reference information. Files cannot be pulled during walk-ins, and the following issues cannot be addressed during walk-ins: degree audits, balence sheets, planning for study abroad, or anything requiring more than 5-10 minutes.
Peer Advising
The Elliott School also utilizes undergraduate peer advisors. Click on the "Peer Advising" tab on the left for more information.
What Advisors Do
While students are responsible for determining their schedule and meeting all degree requirements, Academic Advisors are here to guide undergraduate students through the entire undergraduate degree. An Academic Advisor can help you:
- Choose your courses
- Prepare a four year plan
- Organize a study abroad experience
- Plan an internship (for credit and zero credit)
- Choose a secondary field of study
- Create or choose a group concentration
- Explore extracurricular opportunities
- Check your progress towards graduation
- Generally facilitate your successful completion of GW and the Elliott School's undergraduate program.
