GW Summer Abroad

During the summer (and sometimes during spring break), GW offers short, intensive courses taught abroad on a particular theme or focused topic. Courses are taught by GW and Elliott School professors and offerings may change each summer. Students earn GW credit for their participation in a GW Summer Abroad course. Programs of particular interest to Elliott School graduate students offered in 2009 include:

  • Belgium: Global Corporate Responsibility
  • Chile: 2009 Chile Residency
  • China: Globalization and Business, Economic and Financial Issues
  • China: Survey of International Economics
  • Costa Rica: International Education & Policy: Implications for American Educators
  • Czech Republic and Slovakia: Central European Affairs
  • Dominican Republic: Sustainable Tourism Development in the Dominican Republic
  • England: Privatization, Nationalization, and Public-Private Partnerships
  • GW-Oxford program in International Human Rights Law
  • Panama: Sustainable Development Strategies, Ecotourism and Security: A Geographic Field Course
  • Russia and Ukraine: Media, Power, and Public Opinion in Russia and Ukraine

New courses for summer abroad, and any spring break courses that might be offered, are announced by GW each December.
