Economics Requirement

Students must demonstrate familiarity with economic theory and concepts at the level of intermediate micro or macroeconomics, usually the second year of undergraduate economics. The SPS requirement in economics may be met by taking and passing Survey of International Economics (Econ 280), Survey of International Macroeconomics and Finance Theory and Policy (Econ 283), or Survey of International Trade Theory and Policy (Econ 284).

Students who do not feel adequately qualified, either because they have not taken introductory economic theory courses or did so some years ago may find it necessary to take Survey of Microeconomics (Econ 217), Survey of Macroeconomics (Econ 218), or additional prerequisites before taking the above. Consult the program director or academic advising in planning to meet this requirement.
