Thesis Option

Exceptional students may choose the thesis option. They must obtain approval from the Dean by meeting the following requirements:

  • A minimum GPA of 3.5 after 20 credits of graduate work.

  • A previous, high quality research paper demonstrating the ability to conduct original research and write cogently.

  • A formal, brief thesis proposal approved by the prospective thesis advisor and second reader.

If the thesis option is approved, the student registers for six credits of thesis research (IAFF 299-300). Any student interested in the thesis option should contact their Graduate Student Advisor (994-3002) for the proper paperwork. There is a $30 University fee for this option.
