Master of Arts in European and Eurasian Studies

About Us

The European and Eurasian Studies program is housed in the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (IERES). The M.A. program benefits from its relationship to the Institute and the expertise of its faculty members, who are established scholars and practitioners in the region. The principles disciplines of faculty are from political science, economics, and history, with important representation also from languages and literature, film studies, anthropology, sociology and public policy. The Institute also houses the GW Cold War Group, a community of scholars and graduate students dedicated to exploring the Cold War experience and its implications for future policy making. By fostering scholarly research, hosting visiting scholars, and organizing lectures and other public events, the Institute reinforces and enhances what students learn in their courses.

The Institute and the EES program also host a variety of special events throughout the year.
