Nsikak Akpan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo in Nigeria, where he graduated in 2002. Nsikak also received a Master of Science degree in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Uyo in 2007. He presently is pursuing his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management from GW.

Mohammad Al-Jawah
Mohammad Al-Jawah is from Cairo, Egypt. Mohammad received his undergraduate degree from GW in 2004, when he received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical Engineering. He received his Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from GW in 2005 and presently is working towards his doctoral degree at GW.

Anna Bezrukov, who is a professional photographer, gained her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, where she majored in International Business and Marketing, graduating in 2006. At GW, Anna currently is pursuing her Master of Arts degree in International Development Studies.

Isabel Bignon
Isabel Bignon is from Chile. Isabel graduated from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. She presently is working on her PhD degree in Systems Engineering at GW.

Franklin Bourdeau
Franklin Bourdeau is a Fulbright Scholar from Haiti. Franklin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Haiti in 2008 and now is studying for his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW.

Steven Burns
Steven Burns is a Senior Consultant at Pace Global Energy Systems in Bethesda, Maryland. Steve graduated from the Carnegie Mellon University in 1997 with a dual major in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Public Policy and received a Maser of Science degree in mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 2003. Steve currently is working on his Doctor of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW.

Ariel Castillo works for the SRA Corporation in Northern Virginia, and previously worked for Northrop Grumman as a Strategic Analyst. Jelani Clement
Jelani Clement currently works for the George Washington University, where he is a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. Jelani holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Environmental Science from Howard University, where he graduated in 2006. He currently is undertaking graduate studies in the Environmental and Energy Management program at GW.

Tyler Cooley
Tyler Cooley presently is serving as an Intern at the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington DC. Tyler received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Wyoming in 2000. Rukia is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she received her undergraduate degree in criminal justice and legal studies. Nathan Delong
Nathan Delong works as a Remedial Project Manager for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Washington DC. Nate received this Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a minor in Chemistry, from Lafayette College in 2004. He is in the process of pursuing his Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering at GW.

Loren Denton in an Environmental Engineer with the Office of Air and Radiation at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. Loren holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Colorado (1990) and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering (1996) from the same institution. He presently is working on his doctoral degree at GW.

Stephen Fields
In November 2008, current E&EM doctoral student Stephen Fields accepted a new position with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Commissioner, as an Operations Research Analyst. In his new job, Steve is involved in assessing several key aspects of agency program performance within the various FDA centers to identify ways of improving performance to coincide with FDA's overall Strategic Plan. He presently is working on three principal tasks. (1) providing information and analyses to help agency officials, the Department, and members of Congress make decisions related to programs, policies, budgets, and planning (2) assisting FDA managers improve program operations and performance, and (3) disseminating evaluation results and methodological tools useful to FDA managers and the public health community. Steve previously worked with the U.S. National Institutes of Health as an Environmental Engineer.

Tom Fitzgerald
Tom Fitzgerald received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Santa Clara University in California in 2004. Tom currently works for Solar Town, which markets a variety of solar energy products. Tom is pursuing a Master of Public Policy degree in Environmental and Natural Resources Policy at GW.

Trina Fletcher
Trina Fletcher received her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from the University of Arkansas. She also holds a Master of Science and Operations Management from the University of Ark saw. Presently, Trina is pursuing her Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy management and GW. Trina recently was awarded an EAA Fellowship to support her graduate studies.

Lara Gast
Lara Gast works in the Energy Information Administration of the US Department of Energy in Washington DC. Lara received her Bachelor of Science degree in Management, with concentrations in Finance and Operations Management, from Boston University, where she graduated in 2004. She presently is pursuing her Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in Environmental Policy in Management, from GW, where she expects to graduate in 2011.

Solome Girma
Solome Girma currently is an Energy Performance Engineer at the Johnson Controls Corporation. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University, where she graduated in 2006. Solome currently is pursuing her Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW.

Mark Goedde
Mark Goedde is pursuing his Doctor of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Christian Brothers University, where he graduated in 1979, and a Master of Business Administration degree from GW, which he received in1983. Mark is a member of the adjunct faculty at GW, having taught a number of courses in the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering. As soon as he completes his course work, Mark plans to work with the Environmental Protection Agency in research related to the nation's crumbling environmental infrastructure.

Christyl Johnson
Christyl Johnson EMSE Doctoral student Christyl C. Johnson recently was appointed by the White House as the Executive Director of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC). The NSTC, a Cabinet-level council, is the principal means within the Executive Branch to coordinate science and technology policy across the diverse entities that make up the Federal research and development enterprise. Christyl previously was an Assistant Associate Administrator at NASA, where she managed earth science missions and conducted research in remote sensing.

Kisa Mfalila is from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1992 from the University College of Lands and Architectural Studies in Dar es Salaam, and her Master of Science degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, in February 2000. Between her university studies, Kisa worked for six years in Tanzania as a Quantity Surveyor, a position in which she has heavily engaged in cost engineering. Kisa presently is pursuing a Professional Degree (Degree of Engineer) in Environmental and Energy Management at GW.
