Several E&EM faculty, students and alumni participated in the 79th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board’s Annual Meeting during the period January 9-13, 2000. The meeting, attracting more than 8,000 participants, filled the Omni Shoreham, Hilton and Marriott Wardman Park hotels in Northwest Washington, D.C. The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is part of the National Research Council (NRC), which serves the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the National Academy of Engineering( NAE). The national headquarters of the NRC, NAS and NAE is just two blocks from GW’s main campus in Foggy Bottom. The five-day TRB meeting included almost 500 sessions containing more than 1,800 presentations about a variety of topics related to transportation. These included such |
environmental topics as transportation and air quality management, climate action policies for the transport sector, environmental litigation, environmental best practices, airport air quality impacts, environmental justice, and policies related to the management of contaminated sediments. |
