Assan Abdirov

Assan Abdirov is from Kazakhstan. He received his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management from GW in 2011 under a Bolashak fellowship, which is very distinguished and highly competitive graduate education program in Kazakhstan. Assan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Kazakh Economic University in 2002.

Arthur Abngelier

Arthur Abngelier received his undergraduate education in business in France. Arthur participated in a two semester exchange program with his home business school in France, returning home to France in 2014.

.Mark Ackiewicz

Mark Ackiewicz graduated in 2003 with a Master of Engineering Management degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Johns Hopkins University in Chemical Engineering in 1995. He currently works for Technology and Management Services, Inc, where helps to support the U.S. Department of Energy.

Moses Adoko

Moses Adoko currently supports the Earth Sciences Program at the National Aeronautical and Space Administration essay Project Manager with the ASRC Corporation. He recently supported a NASA workshop on Biodiversity and Ecological Forecasting that was conducted at the Hilton Embassy Hotel in Washington, D.C. Moses received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Eastern Africa in 1994. Moses also holds a Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology, which he received in 1996. He received his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management from GW in 2011.

.Rosa Ailabouni

Rosa Ailabouni is a Consultant with Booz, Allen and Hamilton Corporation, where she works on Department of Energy programs. Roas obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Ohio State University in 2001 with a major in Political Science, and her Master of Interntional Affaris degree from Columbia University in New York City in 2003. Rosa recently received her Master of Science Degree in Environmental and Energy Management.

.Khaled Al-Adwani

Khaled Al-Adwani compled his master's degree program in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2002. He received his Master of Science degree in mechanical Engineering in May 1999 from the New Institute of Technology in New York.

Nsikak Akpan

Nsikak Akpan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo in Nigeria, where he graduated in 2002. Nsikak also received a Master of Science degree in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Uyo in 2007. He presently received his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management degree from GW in 2014.

.Fahad Al-Ammar

Fahad Al-Ammar is from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he has a number of years of experience in various engineering management positions. Prior to coming to GW to continue his graduate education, Fahad held the position of Senior Engineer in the headquarters Engineering Department of a public/private agricultural organization dealing with grain silos and flour mills.

.Dr. Aziz Al-Buainain

Dr. Aziz Al-Buainain came to GW in 2000 and received his D.Sc. degree from the Engineering Management Department (Environmental & Energy Management) in October 2002. He holds an M.Sc. degree from GW in 1996 and a B.Sc.degree in Civil Engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia in 1984. Prior to coming to GW for his current round of studies, Aziz was head of the Supervision Branch with the Bahrain Defense Force.

Mohammad Al-Jawah

Mohammad Al-Jawah is from Cairo, Egypt. Mohammad received his undergraduate degree from GW in 2004, when he received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical Engineering. He received his Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from GW in 2005 and graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Environmentral and Energy Managment in 2014.

.Hamed Al Khalifa

Hamed Al Khalifa, who graduated with a Master of Engineering Management degree in Environmental and Energy Management in 2002, recently was appointed to be the Assistant Undersecretary for Urban Planning, Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture, Kingdom of Bahrain. The influence of an Environmental and Energy Management graduate education at a national planning level can be seen in the recently released National Strategy 2030 for the Kingdom of Bahrain. The 10 national strategies composing the overall initiative can be seen in English by going to the following web site and clicking on the English button at the top of initial page: http://www.urbanplanning.gov.bh. Hamed reports that his office currently is implementing that initiative, which as can be seen from the web site, was heavily influenced by environmental considerations.

Eydhah Almatrafi

Eydhah Almatrafi received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He received his Master of Science degree in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering from GW in 2014.

.Dr. Na'ill M.H. Al-Momani

Dr. Na'ill M.H. Al-Momani is from Amman, Jordan. Na'ill obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Jordan in 1997, and his Master of Science in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the same university. He received his Doctor of Science degree in Crisis and Emergency Management at GW in 2001, and currently teaches at the Hasemite University in Amman, Jordan.

Saeed Al-Shahrani

Saeed Al-Shahrani holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, which he obtained from the University of Toledo in 2010. Saeed received his Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering at GW in 2013.

.Dr. Amjad Ali

Dr. Amjad Ali earned his doctorate from The George Washington University, Engineering Management and Systems Engineering (EMSE) Department in May 2000. He joined University of Maryland University College (UMUC) as an adjunct faculty member in August 2000. He was soon named the Program Director of the Graduate School's Management of Technological Systems Department. Dr. Ali managed the Global Technology Management program, which is the largest graduate program in the Management of Technological Systems Department. Presently Dr. Ali works with the American Consulting Engineers Council in Washington, DC.

Alonzo Alverez

Alonzo Alverez obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from GW, where he graduated in 2011. He graduated with his Master of Science degree in Engineering Management with a concentration in Finance, Economics and Cost Estimating in 2013. Alonzo presently works for the Chevron Corporation in Houston, Texas.

.Dr. Virginia Alzina

Dr. Virginia Alzina currently works as an Environmental Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C. Virginia holds an undergraduate degree in Political Sciences and Sociology from the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain, where she graduated in 1996. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Environmental Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University in 1998. Virginia graduated from the GW E&EM Program in May 2001 with her Doctor of Science degree in Engineering Management with a concentration in Environmental and Energy Management. Her doctoral research was in the area of environmental impact assessment.

Cesar Anda

Cesar Anda obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 2004 and got his Master of Business Administration degree from GW.  Cesar now works for Pacific Gas in Electric in California, where he also served as a summer intern in 2012.

.Jonathon Anderson

Jonathon Anderson currently works as in the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Recovery Division in the Infrastructure Branch. He holds a combined BA in Environmental Studies/Government from St. Lawrence University (1999). Jonathon recently completed his Masters degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW. He also writes public policy for the Public Assistance Program of FEMA to coordinate various agencies for debris removal and rebuild infrastructure.

.Mark Andress

Mark Andress is a Project Manager with the Military Sealift Command. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Texas A&M University in 1988, and a Master of Engineering Management degree from GW in 2002. He obtained his D.Sc. degree at GW with a minor in Environmental and Energy Management.

Josef Antosh

Josef Antosh works as an Energy Analyst at the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. Josef graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the US Military Academy at West Point in 2003 and obtained his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2012.

Carlos Arboleda completed his Master of Engineering Management degree with a concentration in Environmental and Energy Management in 2000. Carlos received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Columbia in 1997. He presently is working at the Frank Hopkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise in Washington, D.C.

Jessica Aresta-DaSilva

Jessica Aresta-DaSilva graduated from the Roger Williams University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Jessica received her Environmental and Energy Management MS degree from GW in May 2011. She now works at the Environmental Protection Agency as an Environmental Protection Specialist for the NEPA Compliance Division in the Office of Federal Activities.

Ashley Armstrong

Ashley Armstrong holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Williams College where she graduated in 2006. She graduated with her Master of Arts degree in International Development Studies, with a concentration in Environment and Development, from GW, in 2013. Ashley presentably is working as a Mining and Energy Intern at the Conservation Institute, Center for Environmental Leadership and Business.

Jim Bach

Jim Bach works as a Program Specialist with the Peace Corps in Washington, D.C. Jim holds an undergraduate degree in International Affairs from the University of Colorado and a Master of Arts degree in International Education and Human Development from GW, where he graduated in 2005.

Charles Baldwin

Charles Baldwin is a Senior Associate with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Virginia, where he graduated in 2007. Charles currently obtained his Master’s degree in Public Policy from GW in 2014.

Ethan Balis

Ethan Balis currently works as an Elysian Energy Consultant, and as a Seafood Choices Alliance Intern at SeaWeb. Ethan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis, where he graduated in 2001. Ethan received his MBA degree and GW with a focus on Strategic Management and Environmental Policy in May 2010.

.Moises Barona

Moises Barona is an environmental engineer with Automata International, an electroplating manufacturing company. Moises obtained his Master of Engineering Management degree in Environmental and Energy Management in 2003. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the Lewis-Clark State College.

.Shawna Barry

Shawna Barry, a 2008 E&EM graduate, was hired in August 2008 by ICF International to work in the department that prepares NEPA documents. Shawna reports that Its a very different work environment than other jobs I have had, but I'm learning a lot, and its a great place to start right out of graduate school. Shawna also reports that she works with Maggie Goldwasser, another former E&EM student.

.Scott Barstow

Scott Barstow is the Director of Public Policy and Legislation at the American Counseling Association. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in math and computer science from Willamette University in Oregon, where he graduated in 1986. Scott received his Master of Arts degree in public policy from GW, concentrating in environmental and resource policy, in 2007.

.Jodi Graul Bellacicco

Jodi Graul Bellacicco currently serves as an Environmental Engineer/Environmental Health Analyst for the Northrop Grumman Corporation, where she works on air quality programs of the U.S. Air Force. Jodi received her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Economics, with a minor in Biology and Environmental Sciences, at the James Madison University in 2003. She received her Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management from GW in May 2008.

.Veronica Bemis

Veronica Bemis received her Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from GW. She is interested in the environment and took some of her elective courses in the Environmental and Energy Management graduate program.

Christian Benz

Christian Benz graduated in 2014 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from GW with a concentration in Sustainability.

Bruk Berhane presently works as a Program Coordinator, Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering, University of Maryland. Bruk holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, where he graduated in 2003, and a Masters degree in Environmental and Energy Management from GW.

Anna Bezrukov, who is a professional photographer, gained her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, where she majored in International Business and Marketing, graduating in 2006. Anna obtained her Master of Arts degree in International Development Studies from GW in 2012 and is currently working as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton.

.Ramtin Bidgoli

Ramtin Bidgoli received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from GW in 2001. He completed his last course for a Master of Engineering Management degree in the summer of 2003.

.Rachel Bilyk

Rachel Bilyk graduated from the Penn State University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology. She graduated with a Master of Arts degree in environmental and resources management from GW in 2007.

.Nancy Birnbaum

Nancy Birnbaum received her B.S. degree in Computer Science in 1986 from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She completed her J.D. at the Yale University School of Law in 1989, and attended GW starting in 1992, graduating with a master's degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Policy in 1995. Nancy currently is a senior official in one the most innovative programs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Prior to that, she worked as the Assistant Counsel to the Inspector General of National Science Foundation from 1992 to 1995. At the NSF, she worked on the U.S. Antarctic Program in the areas of environmental compliance and logistical operations.

.Gantulga (Gana) Bold

Gantulga (Gana) Bold hails from Ulan Bator (also spelled Ulaanbaatar), capital of the Republic of Mongolia. Gana received his Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Technology from the National University of Mongolia in 2002 and received his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in May 2008.

Ran Bolton

Ran Bolton received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated in 2001. He worked at the Center for American Progress as an Energy Intern while pursuing his Master of Public Policy degree at GW, which he obtained in 2009.

.Dr. Juan Pablo Bonilla

Dr. Juan Pablo Bonilla obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in 1991 from the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia, and his Master of Science degree in 1995 from the George Washington University. Juan Pablo received his Doctor of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2000. Juan Pablo currently is with the World Bank. He previously served as the Minister of the Environment in Columbia. He has in the past served as Executive Director of the Foundation for the Development of the Caribbean Region of Columbia, Environmental Manager of the National Industry Association of Colombia, and Advisor to the Minister of Environment in Colombia.

Nathaniel Boone

Nathaniel Boone works for the Booz Allen Hamilton Consulting Company, where he holds the position of Project Manager. Nathan received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and received his Graduate Certificate in Environmental and Occupational Health from GW in 2011.

.Dr. Sergio Botero

Dr. Sergio Botero received his Doctor of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management from GW in 2002. Sergio currently is an Assistant Professor at the Energy and Thermodynamics Group (ETG) at the Research Center of the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia. The ETG assists industries in identifying energy bottlenecks, increasing equipment operating efficiency, and use of energy resources.

Franklin Bourdeau

Franklin Bourdeau is a Fulbright Scholar from Haiti. Franklin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Haiti in 2008 and received his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2012. Currently Franklin works as a Corporate Environmental and Social Responsibility Research Fellow at the Inter-American Development Bank.

.Dr. Paul G. Bourget

Dr. Paul G. Bourget is a Physical Scientist with the Engineering and Research Center of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Paul earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, in 1979. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Geography from the George Mason University. Paul graduated with his Doctor of Science degree in Crisis and Emergency Management at GW in 2003.

.Karrie Branch

Karrie Branch is an Associate Manager at the Battelle Memorial Institute. Karrie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology, where she graduated in 1977. Karrie obtained her masters degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2006.

Andrea Breault is a Senior Consultant with Booz, Allen and Hamilton, Inc. In her work, Andrea supports the Environmental Management program of the U.S. Department of Energy. Marilyn Brower works as a Liaison Coordinator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. Marilyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Carnegie Mellon University, where she graduated in1991. Marilyn recently received her Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at GW in May 2003.

Megan Brumbaugh

Megan Brumbaugh is a Program Coordinator at Elysian Energy in Washington, D.C. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with an Environmental Studies minor, from Goucher College, where she graduated in 2011. Megan received her Master of Arts degree in Environmental and Resource Policy from GW in 2013.

Catharine Callahan earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the State University of New York -- Albany in 2010. Catherine, who worked for the Department of Physics at GW during her graduate studies, graduated with her Master of Arts degree in Environmental Resource Policy from GW in 2011.

Patrick Campbell

Patrick Campbell received his Bachelor of Arts degree on the University of Washington and International Studies in 2006. Patrick obtained his Master of Public Policy degree from the GW in 2012 and is currently working as a Presidential Management Fellow at the US Department of Transportation.

Nathan Campeau works for Waste Water Management, Inc., in Northern Virginia. Nathan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering at GW, and obtained his Master of Engineering Management degree at GW.

Giuliana Canessa hails from Peru. Giuliana, who serves as the President of Net Impact (a student run environmental organization at GW), graduated from the Universidad del Pacifico. She received her MBA degree in Strategic Management and Public Policy from GW in 2011.

Andrea Carone presently is pursing her Master of Arts degree in Environmental and Resource Policy at GW. Andrea graduated from the University of Michigan in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

.Gary Carroll

Gary Carroll currently works at the US EPA as an Environmental Protection Specialist. He is involved in projects dealing with the water quality, storage, treatability and disposal issues of mercury. Gary also has prior work experience in the consulting industry, including firms like ICF Kaiser, SAIC and HAZMED. He holds a BSc degree from Howard University and an MSc degree from The Johns Hopkins University.

Ariel Castillo

Ariel Castillo works for the SRA Corporation in Northern Virginia, and previously worked for Northrop Grumman as a Strategic Analyst. Ariel graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2000 and received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton in 2003. Ariel obtained his Doctoral degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2012.

Lydia Castro received her Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management from GW in Spring 2002. Lydia, originally from Venezuela, received her Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the Carabobo University in Venezuela in 1998.

Anthony Cefali

Anthony Cefali obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a major in Biology, where he graduated in 2010. He graduated with his Master of Arts degree in Environmental Policy at GW in 2012. Tony also served as a Graduate Administrative Assistant at GW.

Alyssa Charland

Alyssa Charland serves as a Program Officer with FHI 360, an international aid NGO in Washington. D.C. Alyssa obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies at the American University, where she graduated in 2010. She also obtained a Certificate in Community Based Development from the Colorado State University in 2011. Alyssa graduated with her Master of Arts degree in International Development Studies at GW in 2014.

.Gail P. Charles

Gail P. Charles obtained her Master of Engineering Management degree at GW with a concentration in Environmental and Energy Management. Gail is a Senior Vice President with Hill International, a worldwide project management firm in Maryland. Prior to joining Hill International, Gail was Senior Vice President for Federal Programs at the Dames and Moore Group (Engineering and Construction). Gail has two undergraduate degrees, one at Marymount University and the other from the George Washington University.

Scott Christian currently is working at the US Environmental Protection Agency. Scott received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Information Management and Technology from Syracuse University in 1999 and received his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management from GW in 2005.

.Dr. Uzo Eric Chukwu

Dr. Uzo Eric Chukwu graduated from GW in 2002 with a Doctor of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management. Eric received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from the Southern University in Houston Texas, in 1981, and his Master of Science in Logistics Management form the University of Central Texas in1992. Eric, who originally is from Nigeria, currently works for the U.S. Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia.

Holly Clarke serves the Department of Homeland Security as a consultant with ICOR Partners. Holly's specialty is Environmental Security. Holly holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering from the Florida Atlantic University, where she graduated in 2002. Holly graduated from GW with a Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management in 2006.

Nikki Cleaveland works for Northridge, Inc., where she uses Geographical Information Systems and other advanced technologies in environmental applications. Nikki comes to GW from the University of Indiana, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pubic Affairs, with a concentration in Environmental Science, in 1998. She completed her Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2002.

Anne Clement

Anne Clement works in the U.S. Senate, where she is a Legislative Research Assistant. Anne received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with a minor in French, from UCLA, where she graduated in 2007. She received her Master of Public Administration degree, with concentrations in Federal Policy, Politics and Management, and Environmental Policy, from GW in 2014.

Jelani Clement currently works for the George Washington University, where he is a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. Jelani holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Environmental Science from Howard University, where he graduated in 2006. .Dr. Kay Davoodi

Dr. Kay Davoodi is a 1998 graduate of our program with a Doctor of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management. Before attending GW, she earned her Master's degree in Industrial Administration from University of Dallas and her Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology in Tehran, Iran. Kay presently holds the position of Public Utilities Specialist for the U.S. Navy. Prior to her work with the Navy, she was employed by the Potomac Electric Power Company for seven years. Prior to joining PEPCO, Kay was employed by several consulting firms as a mechanical and energy engineer for ten years. Kay is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Virginia and is a Certified Energy Manager.

Kristin Deason graduated from the University of Virginia in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering. Since graduating, Kristin has worked in the Management Consulting Division of PriceWaterhouseCoopers and for Intersect Software, Inc. Andrew Einhorn is President of his 48-person firm, Synoptos, with offices in DC, KC, and Taiwan. They mostly deal with energy companies. Formerly an Environmental Consultant with the ICF Kaiser Corporation, he worked on environmental impact statements, and supported the Office of Pesticides at the Environmental Protection Agency and also did regulatory support work for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Andy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he graduated in 2001. He graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Environmental & Energy Management in May 2005.

Erkan Ekingen hails from Turkey. Elena Emelyanova was a Visiting Scholar from Russia who conducted graduate studies on a Fulbright Scholarship with the Environmental and Energy Management Program at GW from 1999-2000. During her studies in the United States, Elena also served an internship in water pollution control in Arlington, Virginia. Elena received her undergraduate degree from the Novosibirsk University in 1982 and her graduate degree from the St. Petersburg Technological Academy in 1989. Although she has returned to Russia, Elena continues to maintain her relationship with GW and returns to visit from time to time.

Jason Feldman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Spanish from Northwestern University. Jason was pursuing his Master of Public Health degrees at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, when he was displaced by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. Jason continued his studies in the Fall 2005 semester in the Environmental and Energy Management program at GW. Although Jason has returned to Tulane to complete his graduate studies hen Tulane reopens, he will always be a part of GW's Environmental and Energy Management "family."

Stephen Fields

Dr. Stephen Fields received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2012. Before attending GW, he earned his Master's degree in Systems Engineering from University of Virginia and his Bachelor's degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech. In 2008, Stephen accepted a new position with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Commissioner, as an Operations Research Analyst. In his new job, Stephen is involved in assessing several key aspects of agency program performance within the various FDA centers to identify ways of improving performance to coincide with FDA's overall Strategic Plan. He presently is working on three principal tasks. (1) providing information and analyses to help agency officials, the Department, and members of Congress make decisions related to programs, policies, budgets, and planning (2) assisting FDA managers improve program operations and performance, and (3) disseminating evaluation results and methodological tools useful to FDA managers and the public health community. Stephen previously worked with the U.S. National Institutes of Health as an Environmental Engineer.

Tom Fitzgerald received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Santa Clara University in California in 2004. Tom currently works for Solar Town, which markets a variety of solar energy products. Tom obtained a Master of Public Policy degree in Environmental and Natural Resources Policy from GW in 2011.

Jean-Marc Gorelick is serving as a Crisis, Stabilization, and Governance Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in Dakar, Senegal. Before joining USAID in 2009, Jean-Marc worked on democracy and governance projects in Africa for Development Alternatives Inc, and the International Republican Institute, respectively. Jean-Marc served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Togo, focusing on civic education projects. Mukhtar K. Ibrahim is an Environmental Engineer with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, where he is responsible for a variety of water resources projects, including the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers Water Quality Data Trends Analysis and the DC-WASA Long Term Combined Sewer Overflow Planning Project. Before joining COG, Mukhtar worked at Camp Dresser and McKee in Annandale, Virginia, where he worked on various projects including watershed delineation, flow analysis, data manipulation, and digitizing. Mukhtar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering degree from the University of the District of Columbia and completed his Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the George Washington University in January 2000.

Christyl Johnson

Christyl C. Johnson recently was appointed by the White House as the Executive Director of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC). The NSTC, a Cabinet-level council, is the principal means within the Executive Branch to coordinate science and technology policy across the diverse entities that make up the Federal research and development enterprise. Christyl previously was an Assistant Associate Administrator at NASA, where she managed earth science missions and conducted research in remote sensing. Chrystl graduated from GW with a Ph.D. degree in Environmental and Energy Management in 2011.

Prasan Jaroenpiboonkit is from Thailand. Prasan holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Environmental Engineering from the Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, where he graduated in 1997. Before coming to GW to pursue his Master of Engineering Management degree in Environmental and Energy Management, Prasan worked in the wastewater treatment construction industry in Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Daisy Ligon completed her doctoral research in 2001 under sponsorship of the Transportation Environmental Research Program of the Federal Highway Administration. Daisy is a Lead Engineer with the Mitretek Corporation in Northern Virginia. In her job at Mitretek, Daisy directs a team of technical and nontechnical specialists in the preparation of environmental impact statements and the performance of regulatory analysis in the environmental arena.

.Patrick Lucchese

Patrick Lucchese is from Brazil. Patrick obtained his Bachelors degree in Business Administration from GW in 2002. During the Fall 2004 semester, Patrick began working as a manager for a new company formed after ratification by Russia of the Kyoto Climate Treaty in 2004. The new company is working on using carbon dioxide credits to facilitate reforestation and development in the Amazon region of Brazil.

Christi, who worked in the GW Geography Department as a Research Assistant during her graduate studies, received her Master of Arts degree in Geography from GW in 2013.

.James Lynch

James Lynch, a 2007 E&EM Master of Science graduate, joined the U.S. Department of Energy's Environmental Management Professional Development Corps August, 2008. Jim, who now is working in Richland, Washington for DOE, said that landing my first real job in the government is very exciting and I owe a lot to the great education I received at GW. Jim reports that he is doing nuclear clean-up, pollution prevention, and environmental security with the Office of River Protection, and will be undertaking rotational; assignments around the country for two years. After that, he will have the opportunity to go back to school or receive a non-competitive placement with one of the offices.

Rosa graduated again from GW in 2000 with a Doctor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering with a minor in Environmental and Energy Management. Originally from El Salvador, Rosa works as an Environmental Specialist with the Environment Division of the International Finance Corporation, World Bank, in Washington, D.C. Prior to working at the World Bank, Rosa was an Environmental Consultant with the United States Committee for the United Nations Environmental Program in Washington, D.C.

Bill Ostrum received his undergraduate degree in Government from the College of William and Mary in 2004. Bill recently left his position as a STEP Program Assistant at the National Science Foundation to accept a new position as and Environmental Assessment Analyst at the US Federal Highway Administration. He received his Master of Arts degree in Environmental Resource Policy from GW in 2013.

John Adekunle Owoyemi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Engineering University at Lagos, Nigeria, where he graduated in 2000. Dr. Teresa R. Pohlman 2002 E&EM graduate Dr. Teresa R. Pohlman, LEED AP, recently assumed the position of Director, Occupational Safety & Environmental Programs, in the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Teresa previously served as Chief of the Environmental Division, U.S. Air Force, where she managed the Air Force's $1 billion environmental program, including cleanup, compliance, conservation, and pollution prevention, for all bases in the United States and overseas, including international bilateral agreements with Russia, Norway, Argentina, and Italy. She also served as the Tenant Activities Group Leader at the Pentagon Renovation Office, where she spearheaded the efforts for LEED certification of three Pentagon Renovation projects and won the Presidential Award for Leadership in Federal Energy Management, one of five awarded in the federal government.

Maria Polis is a Research Associate with the National Association of Regional Councils in Washington, D.C., where she specializes in air quality management issues. Dr. George William (Jerry) Sherk received his D.Sc. degree in Spring 2002, from the Environmental and Energy Management Program. Prior to coming to GW, Jerry was a Visiting Associate Professor of Natural Resources and Environmental Law at Georgia State University (1994-1996). Prior to that, Jerry had a private law practice and, from 1984-1990 was a trial attorney with the Environment and Natural Resources Division, U.S. Department of Justice. He also has served as a special assistant in the Office of the Secretary of the Interior (1982-1983) and as an attorney with the National Conference of State Legislatures (1980-1982). Jerry received his law degree from the University of Denver after completing undergraduate and graduate studies at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Dr. Irmak Renda Tanali is a Research Associate at the Institute for Crisis, Disaster and Risk Management of the George Washington University. Armin Vakili

Armin Vakili received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department of Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran where he graduated in 2011. He also received a proffesional Diploma in Rotary Instruments Engineering in 2009. In addition, Armin has worked as an intern in petroleum industry. Armin received his Master of Science degree in Enviromental and Energy Management from GW in 2014.

.Karen Vallejos

Karen Vallejos is from the Philippines. She currently works in the IT Support department of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & Mackae. In 1996, she earned her BA degree from Ateneo de Manila in the Philippines. She received her Masters degree in Engineering Management from GW in May 2002.

.Dr. Krishna S. Vatsa

Dr. Krishna S. Vatsa obtained his Doctor of Science degree in Crisis and Emergency Management, with a minor in Environmental and Energy Management at GW. Prior to coming to GW, Krishna worked in the area of earthquake rehabilitation in his native country of India. Krishna holds a Master of Arts degree in International Business from the University of Reading, United Kingdom and was a Visiting Academic at the London University, where he lectured in the area of environmental justice.

Lindsay Veas

Lindsay Veas is a Senior Analyst with TMS, Inc, supporting the Office of Fossil Energy, U.S. Department of Energy. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2001 from GW. She received her Masters degree from the Environmental and Natural Resources program at GW in 2013.

.Dr. Laura Verduzco

Dr. Laura Verduzco, who graduated with a Doctor of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management program at GW in 2006, is from Mexico City, Mexico. Laura, who was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Nacional Autonama de Mexico in Mexico City. Laura now works for Mobil in California as a Carbon Advisor.

.Nick Vikstrom

Nick Vikstrom is a Presidential Administrative Fellow. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from GW, where he graduated in 2002. Nick recently graduated with a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Environmental Management and Policy.

Indrajeet Viswanathan

Indrajeet Viswanathan hails from India. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Mumbai in 2004. After graduating, Indrajeet worked in the areas of marketing and estimation and also had some teaching experience before coming to GW, where he received his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management in 2013.

Leslie Walrath is the Director of the Environmental Infrastructure program for the United States Army. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering from the US Military Academy at West Point, New York in 1994. Leslie got her Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree from Georgia Tech in 2002 and received her Professional degree in Environmental and Energy Management from GW in 2011.

Emily Wasley, a British citizen, was born and raised in London, United Kingdom. Emily received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College, which is located near Syracuse, New York. She received her Master of Arts degree in Environmental and Resource Policy at GW. Emily presently works as a Senior Consultant in the Environmental and Safety Compliance Division of the McLean, VA offices of Booz Allen Hamilton.

Rusty Wasem obtained his undergraduate degree in History from the State University of New York, Plattsburgh. Rusty currently is a Chemical Review Manager at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., and received his Master of Business Administration degree in Strategic Management and Public Policy from GW in 2013.

Poomvises (Yod) Watanachak is from Thailand. Yod graduate with a bachelor of Science degree in electronics enginering for the Assumption University in Thailand and completed his Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at GW in 2002.

Christopher Watroba

Christopher Watroba worked at the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton while studying for his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW, where he graduated in 2012. Chris graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Management from the US Military Academy at West Point in 2001. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Webster University, where he graduated in 2005.

Shayna Weinshel received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from GW in 2011. She graduated with her Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from GW in 2013 while working for DC Water, which is the water and wastewater utility servicing all of Washington, DC.

John Weiss

John Weiss graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree at GW in Environmental Studies and Geographical Information Systems from GW in 2013. John works at the Department of Housing and Community Development in the District of Columbia government.

Megan Wertz

Megan Wertz works for the U.S. Forest Service in Washington, DC, where she holds the position of Social Science Technician in the Office of Policy Analysis. At USDA, Megan works on climate change issues. Megan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Scientific Communications from the James Madison University, where she graduated in 2006.

.Corry Westbrook

Corry Westbrook obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from the Florida International University in 1993 and her Master of Arts degree in Environmental and Resource Policy from GW in 1998. Corry currently serves as the Legislative Director for the National Wildlife Federation in Washington, D.C. She previously was a Program Analyst in the Office of Drinking Water at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Soala Whyte

Soala Whyte received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the Olabisi Onalsango University in Nigeria. He graduated with his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy management from GW in 2014. He presently is working for Peer Consultants in Washington, D.C. as an Energy Associate.

Benjamin Wollman works at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Doherty, Cella, Keane and Associates. Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, where he graduated in 2002. Ben graduated with a double major at the masters level at GW in Public Policy and Environmental and Resource Policy.

Carleen, who currently works as an Energy Analyst for the SAIC Corporation, received her Master of Arts degree in Environmental and Resource Policy at GW in 2008.

Christopher Woods currently is a Research Associate at the Center for Environmental Leadership in Business of Conservation International. He received his BA degree in Philosophy, Psychology and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995. Chris graduated from GW with an MBA degree, focusing on Environmental Policy and Management.

Justin Wright works in the NEPA Compliance Division at the US Environmental Protection Agency. Justin then received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Watershed Hydrology from North Carolina State University, and received his Master of Business Administration degree from GW in 2012.

Candice Wu

In May 2014, Candice Wu transferred from working in the Oceans Program at the Environmental Defense Fund in Washington, DC to the same program in San Francisco. Candice graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Environmental Studies from the University of California at San Diego in 2008. She received her Master of Public Policy degree from GW in 2011.

.Dr. Michael Li-Chun Wu

Dr. Michael Li-Chun Wu graduated from GW with a Doctor of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management in 2000. Michael received his Bachelor of Science degree in Surveying Engineering from the Chung Cheng Institute of Technology in Taoyuan, Taiwan in 1982, and his Master of Science degree in Environmental Health Engineering from the University of Kansas in1992. Michael presently serves in the Taiwan armed forces where he is a Colonel in the Air Force.

Katie Wurtz

Katie Wurtz works as a Program Analyst in the Office of the CFO at the US Department of Energy.Katie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics as well as a Bachelor of Arts and International Studies, both of which she obtained from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated in 2003. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in International Economic Affairs, which she obtained from GW, where she graduated in 2010.





.Ariel Wyckoff

Ariel Wyckoff works for the United Nations Environmental Programme in Washington, D.C. Ariel graduated from UCLA in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and completed his Master of Arts degree in International Development at GW in 2006. Ariel is a veteran of the Peace Corps, where he served in Mongolia from 2000 to 2002.

Candice Wyllie

Candice Wyllie is from the Grenadines in the Caribbean Region. Candice received her LLB degree from the University of the West Indies in Kingston Jamaica in 2002 and received her Master of Arts degree in Environmental and Resource Policy at GW in 2010. Candice works in the area of biofuels and sustainable fuels at the Think Box Group, LLC in the Washington, D.C. area.

Jennifer Wynn

Jennifer Wynn works in the Office of Global Partnership Initiative at the US State Department. Jan graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011. She received her Master of Public Policy degree from GW in 2014.

Dr. Elvin Yuzugullu hails from Istanbul, Turkey. Elvin graduated from the Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering. She received her Master of Science degree, also in Environmental Engineering, from the West Virginia University in 1998 and her Doctor of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2005. Elvin currently works on renewable energy at the Sentech Corporation in Washington, DC.
