Applying
For Fall semester: April 1 (January 15 to be considered for merit-based tuition support) What you need to submit for the application: 1. Standardized test scores: the Graduate Record Examination general test (our institutional code is 5246). Note that the GRE scores must be submitted whether or not the applicant already attained another graduate degree. Only the GRE, with no substitution, will be accepted for this requirement. 2. Recommendations required: At least two (2) letters of recommendation from an academic instructor/advisor or someone who can speak of your academic abilities. One letter may be substituted with a letter from a supervisor if the line of work is closely related to academic work (ex: analytical research positions). Applicants may provide additional letters if desired. 3. Prior academic records: Official Transcripts are required from all colleges and universities attended, whether or not credit was earned, the program was completed, or the credit appears as transfer credit on another transcript. Transcripts must be forwarded in their original sealed envelopes. 4. Statement of purpose: In an essay of about 500-700 words, state your purpose in undertaking graduate study in Education Policy at The George Washington University, describing your academic objectives, research interests, and career plans. Also discuss your related qualifications, including collegiate, professional, and community activities and any other substantial accomplishments not already mentioned in the application. 5. A curriculum vita that chronologically describes your educational attainment and job skills and experiences. International applicants only: Please review International Applicant Information carefully for details on required documents, earlier deadlines for applicants requiring an I-20 or DS-2019 from GW, and English language requirements. Note that you submit your application here: GW Graduate Application (Submitted online) You will be charged a $60 non-refundable application fee. This can be submitted online using a credit card or via check made payable to The George Washington University.
