The Center for Curriculum, Standards and Technology (CCST)

The Center for Curriculum, Standards and Technology (CCST) at The George Washington University (GW) is dedicated to developing and supporting leadership efforts in the public and private sectors that are designed to ensure high standards and quality educational opportunities for all children. CCST works with teachers, administrators, and community leaders, including key educational policy makers, to develop programs and policies leading to educational reform. Since its inception in 1992, CCST has focused on reforms and research activities in the areas of curriculum standards, national teacher certification, teachers' professional development, and the training of teachers to be leaders of educational reform. The Center also completed a study of education reform and teachers' professional development in 9 school districts. In addition, the Center and Norfolk State University have formed a partnership to support teachers in 18 school districts who are seeking national certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. CCST uses technology as a means of teaching, learning, communicating and networking. Dean Mary Hatwood Futrell and Dr. Iris Rotberg of the Education Policy Faculty are Co-Directors of CCST.
