Professor Watson received his PhD in economics from Indiana University in 1981. His research areas include public economics, health economics, and applied microeconomics and research in these areas has appeared in the Journal of Public Economics, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, the European Economic Review, the National Tax Journal, Public Finance Quarterly, the Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, Public Choice, and the Southern Economic Journal. He has served as a consultant for the National Science Foundation and the World Bank.
