Chinese Learning Strategy

Many articles report the recent fever of learning Chinese thanks to China's economic rise. The number of students learning Chinese as second language has doubled or even tripled in the past few years. However, students encounter various problems in learning this hardest language in the world but have no solution for this dilemma.

This research project identifies varied language learning strategies from the research, questionnaires and student self-reflection. Students will find some new strategies from the list and benefit from this study. Interview videos will be posted on the website to model the strategies and share peer experience. This project will ultimately spark student’s interest in learning second language and encourage more students to major in Chinese.

This research is sponsored by the grant of Second Language Research Support Award of the Language Center of George Washington University.
