Drew Burns (2006 Chinese Language and Literature major) is completing his M.A. in Chinese Language and Culture from the Ohio State University while working at a company called Vtion Wireless in Beijing.

Michael Wert (1996, Japanese Language and Literature minor) recently got a tenure-track assistant professor position in Japanese history at Marquette University.

Christopher Keyashian (2006, Japanees Language and Literature) is currently teaching English in the City of Gujo, Gifu.

Robert Ogburn (1985), joined the Foreign Service and was posted to Korea from 1988-1993, and again from 2005-until now. Robert says that studying Korean is well worth the investment in time if one is thinking of a career in Asia. He is currently Acting Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs at Foreign Service. Erin Lau (2007, Japanese Language and Literature), who is a starting MA candidate for Japanese literature at the University of Hawaii, says that she received a Graduate Assistantship, a rare feat for a MA candidate, thanks to the excellent preparation that Prof. Hanami of the GW Japanese program provided.

Richard A. Pegg, who earned the MA in East Asian Studies with Concentration in Chinese Language & Literature, went on to earn a PhD in Chinese art history at Columbia. Now he serves as Curator of the MacLean Collection of Chinese Art, Chicago, and frequently lectures at major museums on aspects of Chinese art.

Alaric Radosh (1983, Chinese Language and Literature) is teaching Chinese at the Fairfax Academy in Virginia. He served as Director of the 2007 Chinese Immersion Summer Camp for Fairfax County Public Schools.

Wendy Schultz (2000, Japanese Language and Literature), who went to Stanford after graduating from GW, has been working in database sales/marketing for the last five years. She recently started (and finished) her first full marathon in Miami.

Alison Alverez (2004, Japanese Language and Literature) and Clark Munson (2004) got married in September, 2007 in Pittsburgh, where Alison is a Ph.D. student in Carnegie Mellon and Clark is a translator.
