The Institute for Educational Policy Studies in the Graduate
School of Education and Human
Development sponsors research and policy analysis; development and demonstration of innovative
education, training, and social service programs; dissemination activities, including conferences,
symposia, and professional development programs; forums in which faculty and students can
participate with national leaders and policy makers in discussions about reforming America's
schools, the development of human resources, and improving the delivery of human services; and
publication of the Occasional Paper Series, which in 1994, reprinted an EAC
East policy paper,
originally published in the Harvard Education Review, Is It Real for all Kids? A
Framework for Equitable Assessment Policies for English Language Learners, by Mark
LaCelle-Peterson and Charlene Rivera. The Center for Policy Studies carries out its broad
education policy mission through its various programmatic arms which include the Institute for
Equity and Excellence in Education, the Institute for Curriculum, Standards and Technology, and
the Institute for the Study of Language and Education.
