Dr. Leconte created the CVET program at GWU in 1984 with her first graduates completing the program in February of 1986. Dr. Leconte has been working in the field of vocational evaluation for over 25 years.  She holds an Ed.D. in Special Education/Leadership in Transition Special Education from GWU, an M.A. in Special Education and Vocational Education from Loyola College , and a B.A. in  History from Millersville State College.

Her professional experiences have included work as a vocational evaluator for school and rehabilitation settings, national and international consultant, trainer, grant reviewer, adjunct instructor and university professor.  She is known for her visionary leadership, tireless mentorship to students and colleagues and constant support to others.

Dr. Leconte is a member of numerous professional associations including The National Rehabilitation Association, Vocational Evaluation and Work Adjustment Association, American Vocational Association and Special Needs Division, National Associaton of Vocational Education Special Needs Personnel, National Council of Rehabilitation, Council for Exceptional Children: Division on Career Development and Transition, Association of Supervision and Development, Association of Persons in Supported Employment and the Association for the Education of Community Rehabilitation Personnel. She was an original policy board member for the AVA Special Needs Division, founder of The National Associaton of Vocational Assessment in Education (NAVAE), a long-standing commissioner for the Commission on Certification of Work Adjustment and Vocational Evaluation Specialists (CCWAVES) and a contributing author of The Interdisciplinary Council Position Paper on Vocational Evaluation and Assessment. She is a past recipient of the VEWAA National Service Award, Mid-Atlantic VEWAA Service Award, VEWAA Paul R. Hoffman Award, and a  NRA Swietzer Fellow.

She has contributed numerous publications to the field and spearheaded many changes that have transformed the profession.  Above all Dr. Leconte is a trusted friend, devoted to her family and a champion crusader for causes that improve the quality of life for mankind.
