B. Danise Busic, Ed.S., CVE (George Washington University)
Courses Taught:  Community Based Assessment and Work Sample Development

Ms. Busic works as a vocational evaluator for Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia.  She has been teaching for the program since 1992 and is currently a doctoral candidate in Leadership Transition Special Education at George Washington University.  Ms. Busic has been a practitioner in vocational evaluation, both in private and nonprofit rehabilitation and public schools for over 20 years. She has a deep affection for her constant companions Max and Gracie.

Lynn R. Dowd, Ed.S., CVE (George Washington University)

Courses Taught:  Vocational Assessment of Individuals with Disabilities, Community Based Assessment and Work Sample Development

Ms. Dowd works as a self-employed vocational evaluation specialist.  She has been teaching for the program since 1986.  She has made significant contributions to the professional field of vocational evaluation including author of the text:  A Glossary of Terminology in Vocational Assessment and Evaluation (1993, The Rehabilitation Resource).  She has served as President of the national VEWAA association, co-authored the organization's Blueprint for the Future, authored numerous papers in the field and provided training at state, regional and national conferences.

Frances G. Smith, Ed.S., CVE (George Washington University)
Courses Taught:  Vocational Assessment of Individuals with Disabilities, Technology and Disabilities, Community Based Assessment and Work Sample Development

Ms. Smith has a broad and in-depth knowledge base in computer and assistive technology as well as vocational evaluation.  She worked as a vocational evaluator in both rehabilitation and public schools for 20 years and continues to combine her vocational evaluation expertise with vocational technology (e.g., assesses and integrates into career and transition programs; teaches teachers and support personnel how to use and integrate technology, including applying technology into their curricula and instructional strategies).  She has served a national leader in the Vocational Evaluation and Work Adjustment Association and as Chair of the Commission on Certification of Work Adjustment Specialists and Vocational Evaluators. She has an affectionate and talkative part Maine Coon cat named Katie and is a native North Carolina beach lover.

M. Edward Roebuck, MS (Bowie State College)
Courses Taught:  Interpretation and Application of Vocational Assessment Information (Report Writing)

Mr. Roebuck has an extensive background teaching at risk youth in public and alternative secondary schools and has worked at the Maryland State Department of Education as a Special Needs Program Specialist and as a Regional Coordinator in the Division of Career Technology Education.  He worked as a vocational evaluator for 15 years in Maryland Public Schools.  He has taught for GWU since 1985.


 

William A. Peterson, M.S., (Arizona State University)
Courses Taught:  Technology in Vocational Evaluation and Rehabilitation

Mr. Peterson works as a rehabilitation engineer and has directed the Biomedical Engineering Service, and assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering program at The National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C.   He has contributed to creating the field of worksite assessment and assistive technology, as well  as facilitating implementation of the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) and Tech Acts.  He conducts seminars and develops technical assistance training materials for complying with the ADA.
