Walking Tour to the National Mall and Beyond 09/10/2005 Saturday

Please join us on a one-day trip to the best known attractions in DC!

Time: group meets at 9:20 am, Sept 10, 2005 (Please be early or punctual)

Place: in front of the Freer Gallery of Art (facing Jefferson Dr.)

Directions to Freer: Take Orange/Blue line to Smithsonian station. Take the Jefferson Dr. Exit in the Metro station. Go east (away from the Washington Monument and toward the Capitol Hill) along Jefferson. The first museum in sight is the Freer Gallery. Please don't forget to ask for help when you're not sure which way to go.

Route: Freer Gallery-National Air and Space Museum-National Museum of American Indian/ Botanic Gardens-Capitol Building-Madison Dr-Washington Monument-World War II Memorial-Korean War Veteran Memorial-Lincoln Memorial-Vietnam War Veterans Memorial (end of tour) -- Three options afterwards: 1) go back to the Monument and Smithsonian station; 2) go further north to the White House and the Farragut West station; 3) go further south to the Tidal Basin (Jefferson and FDR Memorials) and Smithsonian station.

Suggestions: Wear comfortable shoes and take protective measures against strong sunshine (lotion, glasses, and/or cap). Take some water but otherwise carry as little stuff as possible. Bring a watch to keep track of time. We'll have lunch at the Food Court inside the National Air and Space Museum.

Location: Hippodrome, 5th floor of Marvin Center at GWU

We rent the professional KaraOK system from UMCP and you can select your favorite song
from a 6000-song database (http://www.geocities.com/fy168/kok/) and enjoy yourself.

Chinese food will be served at 07:15PM and Moon-Cake will be served in the middle of the party. Meanwhile, ten puzzles (Deng(1) Mi(2) ) are waiting for you to figure them out with prize.

All the current students, alumi, scholars and families are invited to attend the party and wish you can have a nice and unforgotten night on this Friday.

July 27, 2004 RECRUITING The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at The George Washington University is seeking qualified native Chinese speakers to participate in team-teaching Chinese language courses in fall 2004. The positions will be part time, 6-8 hours per week. Qualifications: must have permission to work on campus; speak standard Mandarin; be familiar with the Pinyin system, and be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or Mondays and Wednesdays. Nov 16, 2003 Informative Immigration Seminar (Marvin Center101, 1:00pm-5:00pm)

CSSA is hosting an immigration informative seminar on 11/16/03. The speakers, Mr. Scott Warmuth and Mr. Steve Qi from Warmuth & Niu, LLP Attorneys at Law, will be there to address the immigration issues that concern the CSSA members the most. One-on-one consultation after the seminar will be arranged.

Aug.23,2003 One day tour to Virginia Beach!

Do you want to have a cool summer? Do you want to make more friends of GWU? Do
you want to explore a cool place in the USA? Then come and join us!

CSSA of GWU is organizing this tour to Virginia Beach. This is a one day
tour on August 23, Saturday. We will visit the following places: Aquarium
Museum (takes 3 hours), and IMAX (takes 45 minutes). And for the rest of the
time, we can hang out at the beach and have fun over there, maybe take some
pictures. We can spend about 2 hours at the beach. So the total would be a 6
hour visit at least.

July 20,2003 Campaign for Helping China Flood Victims

( Letter: English, Chinese) As we all know, recent floods in Hunan and Anhui provinces have caused great loss of life and property. In those especially hard hit areas, many elementary and secondary schools have been destroyed. We, CSSA from 11 Universities, ask all Chinese in the Greater DC area, based on individual economic allowances, to reach out your helping hand to these young flood victims.

Congratulations 2003 GW Chinese graduates! You have made the GW Chinese community very proud! To celebrate the accomplishments of the 2003 GW Chinese graduates the George Washington Chinese Student and Scholarship Association will hold a Graduation Party. Everyone in the George Washington University community is invited.

The party will be held on Wednesday, June 11th, from 7pm to 11 pm in the Continental Ball room in Marvin Center. Put it down on your calendar! We will show a Chinese movie and have a karaoke party. Refreshments will also be served. It will be a lot of fun seeing old friends again and meeting new ones. Tell your friends, and don't miss it for anything!

October 5, 2002 Chinese Traditional Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration Party (7:00PM~12:00PM)
CSSAs of American University, Catholic University of America, Georgetown University, The George Washington University, Howard University, NIH and GWU's Chinese Amercian Students Association have agreed to hold the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration Party in GWU's Grand Ballroom (3rd floor) in Marvin Center (800 21st Street NW). This is the first time to throw such a significant party with cooperation of so many organizations. The party consists of performances, games and Chinese Qi Pao fashion show, etc. Karaoke and dancing may be included.
