Blackboard

An on-line course management system that enables you to access your syllabi, course-related materials, assignments, assessments, and communication features provided by your instructor. You must first be registered for a course to access Blackboard.

Colonial Mail

The GW web-based 24/7 e-mail system. All students and faculty are encouraged to get a Colonial Mail account to receive university news and broadcast information, and access to registration and student information via GWeb. To create a Colonial Mail account click here and follow the instructions.

Disability Support Services

Services are offered to assist students with disabilities to participate in campus life. Services range from access to readers, interpreters to assistance in locating campus or community resources.

Gelman Library

The Gelman Library serves primarily the GW community, mainly current students, faculty, staff, and alumni. To enter the library, GW patrons must present a current, valid, GWorld card. The Gelman Library is closed to the general public, but access is granted to GW-affiliated universities, schools, and organizations.

Gelman Library's Reference Services helps students identify the most appropriate sources for their research, interpret the information in these sources, and locate materials in Gelman Library and elsewhere. You must have your currently valid GWord ID card, and it must be swiped in one of the entrance turnstiles for entry.

The 24-hour computer labs, the 4th and 5th floors, and the 24-hour reading rooms are generally available for use 24 hours/day, 7 days/week by current GW students, faculty, and staff. These areas may be closed or have shortened hours on certain holidays. Please check posted signs. You can renew books on the Web at www.aladin.wrlc.org; click on my ALADIN on the toolbar or e-mail librcir@gwu.edu. Call 202-994-6840 for more information.

Textbooks assigned by the professors may be purchased at GW Bookstore or online through the GW Online Bookstore.

The GWorld Card is the official identification card of The George Washington University for all students, faculty and staff members at the Foggy Bottom campus. The card is required for access to several campus buildings and facilities to include Gelman Library, Health and Wellness Center and area businesses.
In order to get a GWorld Card a student must:
- be registered for classes
- bring a picture ID such as Driver's License or Passport

myGW Portal

The myGW portal is a centered on-line community of applications, news, announcements and important university information. Students, staff, faculty, and alumni are able to check e-mail and weather, schedule events on their online daily planner, read the latest national news or University announcement, use Blackboard, and participate in online discussions with others who share their interests.
