Relying on the Consortium's network of information and combined goals, GW Communication students and faculty members may find it helpful to access information and department resources regarding communication at these local universities and libraries.

Consortium Resources

• Consortium of Universities (CUWMA),
  Washington Metropolitan Area
  CUWMA furthers cooperation among the thirteen member colleges and universities in the Washington, DC area by promoting excellence in education through sharing resources, working together to solve common problems and coordinating the joint efforts of members.

• Washington Research Library Consortium
  is a regional library resource-sharing organization established in 1987 to support the information and research needs of seven universities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Communication Departments of Consortium Members

• Communication, Culture and Technology, Georgetown University
  is a multidisciplinary M.A. program devoted to the study of the social, economic, cultural, and political dimensions of communication, media, and information technology. This program also offers the CCT Networked Media Center which specializes in Net and Web technology, network applications, and Web content development.

• School of Communication, Maryland University
  offers a B.A. and M.A. with a focus in journalism, visual media or public communication.

• Communication Studies, Catholic University
  one of the inter-departmental programs offered. No website developed yet.

• Department of Communication Arts, Gallaudet University
  offers a B.A. through studies in intrapersonal, interpersonal, and public communication.

• Department of American Sign Language, Linguistics, and Interpretation, Gallaudet University
  offers a B.A. and an M.A. intending to teach students about the linguistics and development of American Sign Language (ASL).

• Communication, George Mason University
  offers a B.A. in Speech Communication with a focus in public communication, interpersonal communication or mass communication.

• Communications, Marymount University
  offers a B.A. with a strong emphasis on writing, speaking and selected media skills. Students who major in Communications either focus in Mass Communications or Public Relations/Organizational Communication.

  Although no webpages have been posted yet, there is contact information available for the Department of Languages and Communication and the Department of Mass Media, Visual and Performing Arts.

• Communication, Trinity College
  offers a B.A. which emphasizes communication in interpersonal relationships and in public settings.

• Speech Communication, University of Maryland at College Park
  offers a B.A. and an M.A. which examines the strategic role of communication as public discourse. Subject matter studies the history, processes, and effects of human communication through speech and its extensions.
