Business Meetings A number of business meetings will be held during this conference. Times and locations are shown below:

Coffee and Afternoon Breaks
Breaks on Monday will be in the Ballroom (3rd floor), 4th floor elevator lobby (beverage only), and 402-406. On Tuesday and Wednesday, breaks will be only on the 4th floor level.
Communications Fax Services Incoming facsimile may be sent to 202-994-2298 (The FAX of the Department of Chemistry at 725 21st St. Please inform your correspondents to clearly identify the Joint Meeting of the US Sections of the Combustion Institute on the cover sheet to assure delivery. Unless prior arrangements are made, incoming facsimiles will be delivered to the message board twice a day. Please limit the length of incoming FAX to less than 5 pages. No arrangements have been made for out-going facsimile services.
Information Center The Leggette room (Marvin Center first floor adjacent to the Betts Theatre) will serve as the conference information center. Boards are available to post messages, announcements of future meetings, and job openings. Please be considerate of conversation levels in the Legette Room while sessions are being held in the Theatre.
Message Board A message board for will be available in the Leggette Room throughout the meeting.
Internet Services Monday-Wednesday, from 9-5, internet services (AOL, telnet,and Netscape )will be available on a computer in room 401.

Concierge Services Members of GWU's Alpha Pi chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma, a professional chemistry fraternity are acting as student volunteers during our conference. They will be available to help with incoming messages, assist with AV/IT issues, and interface with the Marvin Center Staff.

By car from Foggy Bottom: Take 19th or 21st Street south to Constitution Ave. Left on Constitution Ave. Right on 7th Street until it dead ends at the waterfront. Turn left on Water Street and go 1.5 blocks. Spirit Dock is on right side at 6th and Water St., S.W., Pier 4. Parking is in an adjacent lot ($6) or on street (free after 6:30 PM).
By Waterfront Metro Station: Walk down M Street (Right out of the parking lot that surrounds Metro escalator). Turn left at 6th Street. Go one block. Turn left on Water. Pier 4 is straight ahead.

All Invited presentations will take place in the Dorothy Betts Marvin Theatre on the First Floor of the Marvin Center.

Please note that room assignments may be changed to reflect changing interest level in parallel sessions. Signs will be posted on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th floor elevator lobbies showing up to date session information.
Poster Sessions
Posters will be presented in the Ballroom on the third floor of the Marvin Center. See map for poster locations.
Registration
Registration will occur on the third floor of the Marvin Center on Sunday and Monday and in the Legette Room (First floor adjacent to the Theatre) on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Stairs
In addition to the elevators, stairways are located at the north and south ends of the building.
Foggy Bottom and GWU are one of the safest areas of the District of Columbia. The campus is served by both Metropolitan and University Police Services. However, as in any large city, proper caution should be exercised to protect life and property. Specific recommendations are:
The University police can be reached by dialing 4-6111 from any campus phone. Emergency call boxes are located around campus. Rides within the campus boundaries (which includes the GWU Inn) are available by calling the Escort Service between dusk and dawn at 4-RIDE (from on-campus extentions) or 994-RIDE. Please show your meeting badge to the driver.
Those traveling to Tuesdays dinner cruise via METRO should exercise caution in the short walk between the Waterfront Metro Station and the boarding dock.
