Who We Are
The Partnership for Anthrax Vaccine Education, or the Partnership,
is a coalition of organizations that has come together to provide the
public
with the most comprehensive and timely information available on anthrax
and the vaccines developed to prevent it. Established by the George
Washington University’s School of Public Health and Health Services, the Partnership’s
members include organizations representing military and security personnel,
law enforcement, first responders, consumer and patient groups, vaccine
manufacturers, educational institutions, public health officials and
health care providers.
As part of its public education efforts, the Partnership has established
a Web site (www.anthraxinfo.org) to supply the latest, best and most
comprehensive science-based information about anthrax and anthrax vaccination
to consumers and professionals alike.
Our Mission
To educate and inform the public on anthrax and anthrax vaccines using
sound, science-based information, and to ensure that an adequate preparedness
plan is established and maintained.
Our Goals
After the anthrax incidents and scares following the Sept. 11 terrorist
attacks in 2001, information about anthrax was not always accurate, and
the public was left unsure of where to turn for reliable information.
the
Partnership established three main goals:
- To clarify myths about anthrax and anthrax vaccines by using science-based
information;
- To raise awareness and knowledge about the facts of anthrax and anthrax
vaccines, and;
- To advocate for the development of a comprehensive national anthrax
preparedness plan
