Department of Global Health Awarded a $50,000 Africa-US Higher Education Initiative Planning Grant

George Washington University, lead by the Department of Global Health, has been selected as one of 20 universities to receive a $50,000 grant to support plans for long term and sustainable collaborations between U.S. and African higher education institutions. This partnership between Moi University and The George Washington University will advance Global Public Health Education in its relevance and rigor through collaborative processes in community-based experiential learning and international peer-review and shared learning resulting in: curriculum strengthening; implementation research development; and faculty development through service.  Active collaborations that will be brought to bear in the partnership from within and beyond the region include direct service providers, implementation assistance organizations, technical assistance organizations, and other collaborating universities. Among those partners, AMPATH, TASO/Uganda, World Vision, WFP and WHO combine to form an unparalleled base for experiential learning and implementation research in a program delivery setting. The ASANTE Consortium, the BRAC University/James Grant School of Public Health, and the Institute for Global Health of the Peking University Health Science Center will participate as knowledge and know-how partners, contributing to benefiting from the international shared learning effort.
