Senate passes resolution calling for the "empowering and strengthening" of USAID The proposed resolution would express the sense of the Senate that a USAID Administrator should be "nominated with all expediency and exigency," that USAID "must be empowered to be the primary development agency of the United States," and that the Administrator should increase the number of Foreign Service Offices at USAID and submit a 5-year staffing plan to Congress. Passed by unanimous consent in the Senate on November 9, 2009, this is the final action in the legislative process for resolutions. Therefore, no further action will be taken and this resolution takes effect. |
