Wendy O’Meara, PhD

Wendy O'Meara, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Global Health. She is based in Eldoret, Kenya where she works in collaboration with Moi Univeristy School of Public Health and AMPATH on malaria epidemiology and public health implementation research. Most recently, Dr. O'Meara was a research associate with the Fogarty International Center, National Institutes of Health. With the Fogarty International Center, Dr. O'Meara worked in Kilifi, Kenya on a project to translate research data into tools for evidence-based public health planning.  Previously, Dr. O'Meara was a post-doctoral associate with the Fogarty International Center studying malaria diagnosis, rational drug use and intermittent presumptive therapy (IPT) for malaria in infancy and pregnancy.  Dr. O'Meara has co-authored several papers on malaria epidemiology as well as diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Dr. O'Meara completed her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2003.  Her thesis work was entitled Integrated Analysis of In Vitro Embryonic Stem Cell Differentiation.  She received her BA in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at UC Berkeley.
