LONE SIMONSEN, MS, PhD
Dr. Simonsen currently works as the Senior Epidemiologist at NIH/NIAID. Her current research focus is quantitative methodology in infectious disease epidemiology. She develops and applies novel analytical tools and mathematical models to quantify the burden of influenza and other respiratory diseases. Her work includes evaluating the effectiveness and safety of vaccines, studying molecular influenza epidemiology and phylogenetics. Her interest includes the 1918 influenza epidemic, rotavirus epidemiology and epidemiology of its adverse events, science to policy issues and international health.
Dr. Simonsen has published a remarkable quantity of research articles, many of them related to influenza. She has been honored for her outstanding performance and excellence in service numerous times.
