YANIRA CRUZ, MPH
Professor Cruz works as the Executive Director for Hispanic-Serving Health Professionals Schools (HSHPS) in Washington, DC. She is responsible for developing strategies to expand the Association’s membership, fundraising events, and broadening the Association’s communications network. At GWU SPHHS Professor Cruz teaches courses in health policy. Her courses focus on public health and displaced persons, as well as, advances in health policy.
Prof. Cruz is a member of a variety of organizations form the American Diabetes Association to the National Hispanic Medical Association. She has held consultant appointments for Johnson & Johnson Health Care Program, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hispanic Health services, and Howard University. She has published articles pertaining to Hispanic health and she is a cofounder of a local community based organization that serves immigrants working in the DC metropolitan area called LA Nueva Esperanza.
