GENC BURAZERI, MD, PhD
Dr. Burazeri joined the Department of Global Health as a visiting Fulbright fellow from Albania during Fall 2006 through Summer 2007. He was actively involved in designing and implementing the Global Health Mixed Methods course in both the spring and summer semester. He led the classes on sampling size, and introduction to STATA.
Dr. Burazeri’s primary purpose was to participate in a doctoral level course on qualitative data analysis. With a significant background in quantitative data gathering and analysis, he wanted to learn more about the qualitative side of public health assessment in order to expand his existing research interest in intimate partner violence. The topic of intimate partner violence (IPV) by its very nature is nearly impossible to assess via standard quantitative measures. His secondary purpose was to design a qualitative study of IPV in Albania, one which could be used for grant proposals.
Dr. Burazeri has published research in national and international journals. His publications cover a range of public health issues from domestic partner abuse to building public health associations in the transitioning countries of south-eastern Europe. He has co-authored seven books dealing with health determinants, health promotion, research methods for public health, and regional health program development.
