HUDA M. AYAS, MHSA, MBA, Ed.D
Dr. Huda Ayas is the founder of “The Office of International Medicine Programs” at The George Washington University Medical Center, a world-renowned academic health center. She has formed over 76 global strategic and business partnerships and affiliations in 56 countries resulting in revenues of over $30,000,000. The program currently manages 49 active projects in 38 countries.As founder and executive director of the Office of International Medicine Programs her include serving as key medical center representative and spokesperson for all international educational and training projects, reporting to the Provost & Vice President for Health Affairs, identifying and developing new international business and academic opportunities as well as enlisting national and international academic affiliates, strategic alliances, and business partners.
Dr. Ayas designed, developed and implemented creative and visionary educational programs, including the International Medical Doctorate (IMD), International Residency, International Fellowship, International Observership, International Continuing Medical Education, International Clinical Electives, and the Global Health Track in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the George Washington University. Over 2,500 international and 500 GWU faculty, students, and staff have participated in the various international training and educational programs.
Dr Ayas is the director of the Global Health Track, as well as, the course director for Interdisciplinary Medicine for the GWU School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her activities in these positions include curriculum development, recruitment of mentors and guest lecturers; identification of international sites for summer opportunities; provision of medical students with general guidance on international health/medicine and meeting with them on a regular basis; oversight of medical students’ general progress in the global health track; encouragement of medical students to conduct research project and publish and provide general supervision; and ongoing review and evaluation of global health track curriculum and provide feedback/suggestions to the Dean. Thirty 1st year medical students are expected to enroll each year.
