NARIC has collected and disseminated the results of federally funded research projects. NARIC's literature collection, which also includes commercially published books, journal articles, and audiovisuals, averages around 200 new documents per month.

Provides leadership and support for a comprehensive program of research related to the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities. 

The National Center for the Dissemination of Disability Research (NCDDR) http://www.ncddr.org/index.html

Professional association which began in 1958 and is a division of the National Rehabilitation Association. NRCA represents professionals in the field of rehabilitation counseling in a wide

Founded in 1925 to promote the vocational rehabilitation of persons with disabilities through advocacy, professional development, and public education. State and federal legislation designed to meet the needs of persons with disabilities is promoted. 

Job Accommodation Network (JAN)  http://janweb.icdi.wvu.edu/ 
An international toll-free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations and the employability of people with disabilities. JAN also provides information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

U.S. Government Rehabilitation Agencies 


The Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/osers/rsa/index.html
Oversees programs that help individuals with physical or mental disabilities to obtain employment through the provision of such supports as counseling, medical and psychological services, job training, and other individualized services. RSA's major formula grant program provides funds to state vocational rehabilitation agencies to provide employment-related services for individuals with disabilities, giving priority to individuals who are severely disabled. 

 

Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services  (OSERS)  http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/osers/index.html?src=oc 
The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) supports programs that assist in educating children with special needs, provides for the rehabilitation of youth and adults with disabilities, and supports research to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities. To carry out these functions, OSERS consists of three program-related components:  the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP); the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA); and the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR). 

The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP)  http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/osers/osep/index.html  has primary responsibility for administering programs and projects relating to the free appropriate public education of all children, youth and adults with disabilities, from birth through age 21. The bulk of special education funds is administered by OSEP's Division of Assistance to States, which provides grants to states and territories to assist them in providing a free, appropriate public education to all children with disabilities.

The Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) accredits graduate programs in Rehabilitation Counselor Education(RCE). The purpose of CORE is to promote, through accreditation, the effective delivery of rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities by promoting and fostering continuing review and improvement of master's degree level RCE Programs.
