RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) Clearinghouse on Higher Education, the nation's central source of information on higher education, seeks a full-time (40 hr./week) Research Associate to join its staff of five professionals. The Clearinghouse develops a variety of reports on important higher education topics and disseminates information through an extensive website, a sophisticated information database, workshops, and other information services.

The major responsibilities of the Research Associate include:
1. Researching the ERIC literature database and writing reports and bibliographic reviews to be published by ERIC and/or posted on its website.
2. Coordinating manuscript development, review, and scheduling of ASHE- ERIC Reports, ERIC Digests, and other products.
3. Working with associations and research centers to promote use of ERIC services and disseminate project materials.
4. Providing administrative and budgetary support for a small office.

Qualifications: The minimum degree required for this position is a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate subject and two or three years of experience relevant to the position duties, or a Master's degree and one year of relevant experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. The ideal candidate will also have excellent organizational skills and must be detail-oriented. Experience with MS Office is desired.

Salary and Benefits: Salary is low to upper 30s, depending upon skills and experience. Clearinghouse staff are
George Washington University employees and are eligible for all University benefits, including tuition benefits and low-cost memberships to the University's new Wellness Center.

One Dupont Circle in the National Center for Higher Education, one block from the Red Line's Dupont Circle metro stop.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OFFICE OF DISABILITY SERVICES

The University of Tennessee s Division of Student Affairs invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director of Disability Services. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Disability Services and has responsibility for assisting with the management of the office and personnel within the Office of Disability Services.

The Office of Disability Services is a unit within the Dean of Students Department and is responsible for recommending reasonable accommodations for students, faculty and staff with disabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Director with managing accommodationservices; supervising professional staff; budget administration and program evaluation. Perform student intakes; review student documentation; work with faculty and staff to ensure recommended accommodations are properly executed; work with campus ADA monitor; grant writing; database maintenance; and work closely with Disability Careers Project.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master s degree from an accredited college or university; thorough knowledge of Federal and State statutes and regulations applicable to students with disabilities in higher education; excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills; strong supervisory skills and experience are required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of psychological disabilities, assistive technology, and grant writing are desired.

SALARY: $38,000 TO $42,000, commensurate with experience and othe qualifications.

SUMMER COUNSELING POSITION with the JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR TALENTED YOUTH

We are seeking experienced
counselors to work with gifted students ages 8-16.

WHAT
The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth offers summer academic enrichment programs to gifted and talented students. Our programs are residential and are held on college campuses in the northeast
US and in California. Our summer sites require a large staff of teachers, RAs, and administrators to care for 300+ adolescents in an intense residential environment. Among our administrators is a staff member called the Academic Counselor, who has a very similar role to that of a school counselor. The
Academic Counselor delivers counseling services to the student population and advises the academic and residential staff members. He or she also coordinates efforts to serve students with disabilities.

WHERE
We have 20 sites in
Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and California.

WHEN
There are 2 sessions for the summer of 2002, spanning June 17-August 6.

Salary is $5000-$5400 per summer (7 weeks). Room and board are also provided.

Salem State College is seeking a Director for the Office for Students with Disabilities.

The Position: The Texas Tech Health Science Center invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Professor. The position is within the Masters in Vocational Rehabilitation Program, a Rehabilitation Counselor education program.

The Department: The Masters of Vocational Rehabilitation Program located in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences within the
School of Allied Health. The program is a rehabilitation counseling education program that uses distance-learning technology to deliver the curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Professor provides instruction for the graduate program, research, development, and curriculum planning. Duties also include representation of the department to the college, federal and state agencies, national organizations and strengthening collaborative relationships with all constituents.

Required Qualifications:
1. An earned doctorate in rehabilitation, education, or related human services discipline, ABD is acceptable.
2. A strong record of research activities, educational or services.
3. An excellent record of research and scholarly achievement.
4. A record of service to the field of rehabilitation, or related professional disciplines.
5. Experience in higher education and university teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or CRC eligible.
2. Knowledge of or experience with distance education strategies.
3. Demonstrated expertise with specialized accreditation process.
4. A proven record of writing, securing and managing externally funded programs.

Appointment and Salary:
This position is a 12-month, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor rank. The salary will be commensurate with experience and background. The preferred starting date is September 1, but a later date is negotiable.

The Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, and Counseling Psychology invites applications for an academic year, non-tenure track, benefit-eligible faculty position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin
August 16, 2002. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Please note that hiring of this position is contingent on sufficient enrollment into an off-campus program of study.

The Rehabilitation Counseling Program is located with in the
College of Human Resources and Education. The program is nationally accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) and is part of a comprehensive department that also includes a master's degree in counseling and a doctoral program (PH.D.) in Counseling Psychology accredited by the
American Psychological Association. The Counseling area of study offers a master's degree in school counseling as well as community/agency counseling.

Qualifications: Completed doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field and hold a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential; preference to applicants with demonstrated experience in distance education including online multimedia instructional design and delivery. A successful candidate will be expected to make significant contributions to the
rehabilitation counseling area of study through teaching and service activities to include supervision of student practicum/internship experiences and service to rural areas.

Responsibilities: Instruction via distance education in the master's level rehabilitation counseling coursework. Instruction will include coursework in practicum and internship supervision and rehabilitation history and philosophy, psychosocial aspects of disability and other career and job placement courses. This position also includes design of coursework to be delivered
online, video conferencing, and on-site in off campus locations. On campus class teaching may be included and advising of off campus students.
