Balanced Scorecard Certificate Program

Balanced scorecard systems are becoming the standard management system in many organizations and are widely used in business, industry, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide. Our program integrates strategic management, performance measurement, strategic thinking and planning, change management, and strategy mapping into a structured framework for building a strategic management system.

Developed by the Balanced Scorecard Institute and The George Washington University College of Professional Studies, this program is designed for internal balanced scorecard team members, consultants who want to advise clients on these systems, and anyone aiming to incorporate lessons learned and best practices into a strategic management system for their organization.

The program consists of two weeks of residency work at The George Washington University facilities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and several online sessions. Each participant will select a course project at the start of the program and develop it using the principles learned during the program’s workshops, simulations, and lectures. The course content includes:

• Required Courses (11 days)
• Cluster One: Managing Strategically with the Balanced Scorecard (three days)
• Cluster Two: Setting Strategic Objectives, Strategy Mapping, and Measuring Performance (three days)
• Cluster Three: Prioritizing Strategic Initiatives (two days)
• Cluster Four: Cascading and Sustaining the Management System (three days)

• Elective Courses (two days each)
  • Intensive Sector/Specialization Workshop (Healthcare, Defense, Education, Information Technology, Human Capital, and Industry)
