Congressional Briefing "Improving Identification: Enhancing Security, Guarding Privacy"

Whenever the issue of improving our system of identification arises, people are correctly concerned about possible violations of their rights - especially of privacy, but also of anonymity. How can we improve identification significantly, while safe-guarding rights? The communitarian interest in this subject reflects our conviction that a good society seeks a carefully crafted balance between autonomy and social order, individuals rights and social responsibility, rather than being merely rights or liberty centered. To advance deliberations on the issue at hand, the Communitarian Network organized a Congressional briefing on how to improve identification while enhancing security and guarding privacy.
