The department offers a master's program designed to prepare students to apply the principles and methods of modern biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, and molecular biology to research areas that include cancer, cardiovascular disease, AIDS, and aging. Major areas of faculty research include cellular immunology, prostaglandin synthesis and function, lipoprotein and cholesterol metabolism, developmental molecular genetics, neurochemistry, bioenergetics, membrane biochemistry, and viral chemotherapy. In addition to the regular master's program that includes a thesis, a part-time, evening program is available to students who wish to undertake a non-thesis master's.
