For the Spring 2006 University Writing and Research Symposium, we anticipate more than 1200 presenters, moderators, faculty, and attendees to participate in an event spanning three days (Wednesday, April 26 through Friday, April 28) over two campuses of The George Washington University. This page provides maps directions for finding the locations on which the Symposium will be happening and for finding the specific rooms at which sessions will take place.

MOUNT VERNON

The quad on the Mount Vernon campus of The George Washington UniversitySessions at Mount Vernon will take place in three locations, all directly off the campus's central quad: Post Hall in the Academic Building, Eckles Auditorium in the Eckles Library, and the Ames Pub in Ames Hall. An information table will be available in the lobby of Post Hall.

The campus is easily accessed by the "Vern Express" shuttle buses that run between GW's Mount Vernon and Foggy Bottom campuses. Shuttles run every 5 to 10 minutes during the times at which the Symposium will take place, and they typically take 7 to 10 minutes to make the trip one way (though it's perhaps best to assume 15-20 minutes). On Mount Vernon, the shuttle picks up and drops off at The Quad, across from Somers Hall, the Clock Tower and the Webb Building. The main pick-up/drop-off on the Foggy Bottom campus is at 23rd and H Streets (in front of Fulbright Hall), though prior to 10 a.m., the shuttle stops instead at 21st and H Streets (in front of the Marvin Center). A second stop (post-10 a.m.) is at 20th and E Street, near Symposium locations in 1957 E and Marvin Hall. Because on-campus parking is extremely limited, taking the shuttle is strongly encouraged.
