From the North:
- Take I-95 south to 495 West (this is the Capitol Beltway).
Sign will say 'Bethesda'
-
To get to DuPont Circle Hotels:
- Take the Connecticut Avenue Exit (# ???) and go south all
the way to DuPont Circle. This is several miles, but very easy
and straight-forward.
-
To get to Arlington (i.e. our place or the Hilton):
- 495 West to Exit 43-44: George Washington Parkway (south).
Caution- two exits share an off-ramp. Stay right for GW Parkway!
- Take the I-66 E/US-50 exit towards ROOSEVELT BRIDGE/WASHINGTON/ROSSLYN.
(~9 miles from when you get on)
Stay Right and merge on to Route 50 West.
- Take the first exit (north Lynn St), Right at end of ramp.
- Get in the LEFT lane ASAP.
- At the second stoplight, make left on to Wilson Blvd- NOTE
there is a little merge to make the left hand turn- all traffic
except this left most lane will be going straight. Almost looks
like an exit ramp. White mission/victorian style steak house
in front of you while making left. After you make left- Hyatt
will be on your right.
-
- Proceed on Wilson 2-3 lights. Park where you can- We are
at 1859 Wilson Blvd- across from Rhodeside Grill, near bus stop.
Corner of Rhodes and Wilson.
-
- To bypass us and go right to the Hilton- continue on Wilson
Blvd. for ~2 block and make a left on Courthouse Road (first
light up from our place). The Hilton is in a few blocks on the
left.
-
- Of note:
-
- I. We have made this trip MANY times and there are ALWAYS
problems on the New Jersey Turnpike. One trick is to cross over
to 295 in central New Jersey and rejoin 95 at the Delaware Memorial
Bridge.
- II. When you come down Connecticut Ave., you will have the
option of going UNDER DuPont Circle (via center lanes). Do not
do this- get right as you approach the circle and then loop around
to your desired location. If you do find yourself going under
the circle- no biggie. You can turn around once out the other
side.
-
From the South:
- There are two routes if coming from the South. The first
one listed is preferred for Alabama/Georgia residents, whereas
#2 is better for southern Virginia and eastern Carolinas.
-
- 1. Take I-85 North to I-77
North (in Charlotte, NC).
- Take 77N to I-81N (southwestern VA- no town of note)
- 81N to I-66 East (Front Royal, VA)
-
To our place and the Hilton:
- I-66 to Exit 72 'Lee Highway'- go right at end of ramp.
- After ??? lights, make a right on Rhodes St.
- At next light, make a right on Wilson Blvd. We are in the
first building on the right (#1859).
- To bypass us and go right to the Hilton- continue on Wilson
Blvd. for ~2 block and make a laeft on Courthouse Road (first
light up from our place). The Hilton is in a few blocks on the
left.
To the DuPont Circle Hotels:
- I-66 East to the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge (no exit for this-
you will simply go over it and thus enter DC proper).
- Once over the bridge, you are now on Consitution Ave (Welcome
to our Nation's Capitol!).
- Continue East on Constitution and make a Left on 17th Street.
(Beware that 17 goes right past the White House and is sometime
subject to random detours).
- 17th St. will make a slight jog where you get on Connecticut
Ave.
- Take Conn. Ave to DuPont Circle- stay right to avoid going
UNDER the circle (see II, above).
- Loop around the circle until you get to desired street- New
Hampshire for Jury's and reception site, Massachusetts for the
Westin.
- Be careful here: if you come up Conn, you want to go all
the way around to Mass Ave. This is a traffic circle and thus
you would be going in the wrong direction if you take the first
occurrence of Mass ave. Refer to the map on the preceding
page.
-
- 2. Take 95 North to 395 North
into downtown DC.
