His Way
Singer/Songwriter Paul Anka Comes to Campus for Presidents
Night 2002
The celebrated singer/songwriter Paul Anka
whose 40-year career encompasses 123 recordings, more than 900 songs,
an Academy Award nomination, and countless hits will become the
14th performer to take the stage at Lisner Auditorium for Presidents
Night Oct. 17.
Anka, who last year set a milestone by reaching Billboards Top
50 charts for five consecutive decades, posted five Top-20 hits before
he was 18 years old. Perhaps his most recognizable composition also
is among those least identified with Anka, Johnny Carsons The
Tonight Show theme.
Presidents Night is an annual event for members of The George
Washington University donor societies and the Universitys special
friends in the District of Columbia. Artists who have performed at this
event in the past include Dave Brubeck, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band,
Victor Borge, Arlo Guthrie, and Judy Collins. For more information about
the Paul Anka concert, call 994-7129.
