New Academic Success and Professional Development Series

GW graduate students have a new set of learning experiences available to them this academic year as part of the Academic Success and Professional Development Series. Sessions cover such topics as negotiation, publishing in journals, funding one’s dissertation research, seeking graduate fellowships, preparing an electronic thesis or dissertation, and writing successful grant proposals.

According to Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies and Academic Affairs Carol Sigelman, “Our goal is to brief graduate students on topics directly relevant to their success as graduate students and as professionals in their fields. Some of the topics are addressed informally by faculty mentors; we’re mainly trying to make it easier for more students to get important information and to ask the questions they want to ask. We are very interested in hearing from students so that we can plan future sessions that meet their needs.”
