Out of the Archives: Columbian College at the Turn of the Century

A collage created by graduating students showcases Columbian College’s Class of 1899. On the eve of the 20th century, Columbian College was almost entirely an evening and night school, and students were virtually all part time. Women had first been admitted to the college the decade before. Just five years later, the college would become The George Washington University and, in 1912, move to Foggy Bottom.
