Faculty Input Received at Town Hall Meeting
More than 110 GW faculty members discussed their aspirations for the University at a Board of Trustees Town Hall Forum and Reception held on Oct. 24 in the Marvin Center Amphitheatre. Board Chairman W. Russell Ramsey, B.B.A. ’81; Vice Chairman Nelson A. Carbonell Jr., B.S. ’85; President Steven Knapp; and Lilien Robinson, B.A. ’62, M.A. ’65, chair of GW’s Faculty Senate and professor of art, hosted the listening session, which was open to all faculty.

Participants at the forum addressed six broad questions about their “hopes and dreams” for the University, how GW can improve academic excellence, their everyday concerns, and what they find most rewarding about working at GW. Assistant Vice President of Student and Academic Support Services Peter Konwerski moderated the discussion. The meeting was the first in a new series to be conducted during the academic year. Future sessions will focus on students, alumni, and staff. Comments may be offered online at townhall.gwu.edu.

Ground Broken on New Residence Hall
President Steven Knapp took up a shovel for his first groundbreaking at GW. Held Nov. 2, the ceremony celebrated the University’s newest residence hall at 2135 F Street, NW, which will include living space for 474 upperclassmen.

The residence hall is made possible through GW’s public-private development partnership with the D.C. Public Schools, which also will include the modernization of and addition to School Without Walls’ current building at 2130 G Street, NW, as well as an expansion of the existing programmatic partnership between GW and the school.
