2006-2008 GWSB DSA News ArchivePhilippe Duverger Joins the Board (2008)This semester, Valentina has unfortunately left us to continue her studies at University of South Carolina's Moore School of Business, but we are fortunate to have Philippe take her place on the DSA board! This year the exams will be administered on May 29th and 30th. Full time doctoral students are required to sit for qualifying examinations at the end of their first year in the program. Part-time students can elect to sit for the the examination at the end of the second year. If you are sitting for the exam, then plan to be available 9am to noon and 2pm-5pm on both days. More details are forthcoming in April. In the meantime, part-timers should communicate whether they intend to sit for the exam to Elizabeth Huff by May 15. 2007 Doctoral Student Paper PresentationsThe inaugural presentation of the GWSB doctoral cohort research took place on Friday, March 23 in Duques 453. The conference-style format allowed each of the students to give a 15-20 minute presentation followed by a short question/answer session after each (schedule of events). The papers presented are included: Toros Caglar (download paper) Tim Clark (download paper) George Hrivnak (download paper) Yujin Jeong (contact author) Yuping Zhao (download paper) Jean Zhang (download paper) The event was well-attended by both GWSB faculty and doctoral students. Dean Phillips concluded the event by presenting the award for the best paper to George Hrivnak. Congratulations to George and all of the doctoral students that presented for the outstanding quality of their papers and presentations.
