The Department of Biological Sciences has eighteen
full-time, ten adjunct, and one emeritus faculty members. Several
part-time faculty appointments are filled by professorial-level
persons from the Smithsonian Institution, National Institutes
of Health, and other area universities--either as teachers
of undergraduate and graduate courses or as adjuncts
in support of individual graduate students.
Courses listed below numbered 100-199 are advanced
undergraduate courses, courses
numbered above 199 are graduate courses. Tutorial and
research courses at both the undergraduate and graduate
levels may be offered by any faculty member, and these
are not listed below.
FULL-TIME FACULTY
All Departmental faculty are engaged in scholarship
and participate actively in professional societies and
in University governance. Several faculty hold government
and private foundation grants in support of their research.
Many faculty serve on peer review committees
to review research articles for scholarly journals
and to evaluate grant funding proposals.
